VP OF DIGITAL MEDIA at BYU PRSSA

I've been a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America for all three years that I've been in college. However, the last year, I served on the executive board of the BYU Chapter as the VP of Digital Media. This role is located in Provo, Utah, but I worked almost entirely remote due to COVID-19. This role began in April 2020. My main responsibilities include:
  • Updating the chapter's social media accounts, blog, and website
  • Sending out a monthly newsletter
  • Managing the digital media committee
  • Meeting with the board to plan and run events for the chapter

There are a few skills I've learned from this position. I've learned how to manage social media accounts and create a content calendar. This was especially important this year as social media was the main method of communication since nobody was meeting in person. I also learned a lot about leadership since I had to mentor and provide direction to the digital media committee.

PRSSA is the foremost organization for students interested in public relations and communications. Being a member opens countless networking and mentorship experiences. There are also many opportunities to extend your education. I was able to attend many national webinars and the five-day International Conference in October 2020.
