PRSSA INSTAGRAM TAKEOVER

In an effort to keep the BYU Chapter of PRSSA Instagram profile active over the summer, I created a takeover campaign. The chapter board members took over the Instagram stories and shared PR tips that they have learned over the years.

I decided to share what I've learned about online portfolios in my takeover. The audience was BYU PR students who are unsure about why they need a portfolio or how to get started.

The most challenging part of my takeover was making sure I packed valuable content into only a few stories. I started out by writing out the things I had questions about when I started making a portfolio. Then I created graphics and filmed videos explaining the things that students should know.

For accessibility, I included written summaries on the stories where I was talking. I also spread the stories out over the period of a full day to avoid information overload.

Every story was created using capabilities available in Instagram. No outside software (like Canva or InDesign) was used. The post on the main feed promoting my takeover on portfolios received four saves.

The stories received:
  • 260 average impressions per story
  • 9 replies
  • 7 profile visits
  • 32 sticker taps
