CONTENT MARKETING INTERN AT 97TH FLOOR

At 97th Floor, I am a content marketing intern. This role is located in Lehi, Utah, but I worked almost entirely remotely due to COVID-19. This role began November 2, 2020. My main responsibilities include:

  • Writing new articles based on keyword research to convert the clients' audiences
  • Creating content briefs to provide clients with SEO based research to write their own articles
  • Optimizing existing client articles to improve their ranking on the search engine results page

When writing new articles, I base the content on keywords that have been proven to preform well from the SEO specialist on my team. Then I conduct a semantic analysis and SERP analysis for those keywords comparing competitors to the client. The semantic analysis gives me an idea of which terms competitors use most in their related articles. The SERP analysis looks at the top 10 pages that appear for the keyword I'm researching. From these results, I look at the types of articles that are preforming well, how many keywords are used in them, and their total word count. Each of these data points guides the article that I write, and I weave the keywords and terms into the article I write.

When creating content briefs, I take the keywords and conduct a semantic analysis and SERP analysis. I used these reports to see what types of articles that are preforming well, how many keywords are used in them, and their total word count. I gather each of the relevant data points from these reports and format them so the client can easily understand their significance. Then, I look at featured snippets and frequently asked questions for the keyword to provide the client with different types of information their audience is looking for. Next, I crawl their website and find several internal pages that would benefit from being linked in the new article. Finally, I find articles that can serve as the client's inspiration when writing their own articles

When optimizing existing client articles, I run a semantic analysis and SERP analysis for the keywords. From these results, I look at the types of articles that are preforming well, how many keywords are used in them, and their total word count. Then, I started editing the article and weaving in the different keywords and terms that I found from my research. When the optimization is complete, it is sent to the client for implementation.

97th Floor is one of the leading digital marketing agencies in the world, at is currently the only agency in Utah on the Moz Recommended list. Workplace culture is a very important aspect of this company, and the organization runs on a results only work environment. This means that employees are given more responsibility and ownership over their schedules. There are no regular office hours, and employees are free to work whatever hours they want as long as the work gets done. This was a great experience to have as an intern since I was able to achieve a good work/school/life balance through scheduling my own hours.
